Biggs: Bears Could Be Close To Super Bowl Run
(WSCR) Before Jay Cutler went down with a thumb injury during the 2011 season, the playoffs - and even a trip to the Super Bowl - were a realistic possibility for the Bears.
In 2012, the Bears will look to pick up where they left off before the Cutler injury that derailed their season. One Bears expert thinks that new GM Phil Emery is drafting to win it all now - not to simply stock young players for future success.
"This is where it has to change," Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune told The Mully and Hanley Show. "They've got, what I think on paper, is a pretty good roster right now. They've got a roster where I look at it and say, 'You know what? If this team stays healthy - and that's the caveat you use for every club in the National Football League - it can compete in the conference this coming season. ... That was one of the themes that I took out of yesterday - he's not drafting to build a winner down the road. He's drafting to win right now. Right now."

So what do the Bears need to eclipse the Packers atop the NFC North?
"That led me to think what their need is right now," Biggs said. "What do they really need to get? They need to get that third (defensive) end that's been mysteriously missing since Mark Anderson's 12 sacks in 2006."
