Biggs: Bears Aren't Stingy
(WSCR) The Bears have proven over the past few seasons that they aren't afraid to open up their checkbook for their star players.
"If you look at what they did in free agency a year ago with the (Julius) Peppers contract, (Brandon) Manumaleuna and Chester Taylor, they're not stingy with the checkbook," Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune and The National Football Post told The Mully and Hanley Show. "I do know that Angelo is unquestionably motivated to get a deal done."
With Matt Forte wanting a new contract, Biggs said the Bears are doing everything in their power to make that happen.
"Here's the thing: There are people out there saying that it is unbelievable Jerry Angelo isn't giving Matt Forte what he deserves," Biggs said. "Here's the deal: Jerry Angelo has yet to draft a Pro Bowl offensive player. Barring a dramatic collapse, Matt Forte is going to be that guy. If someone out there doesn't think for a second that Jerry Angelo wants to do everything in his power to celebrate this guy's greatness and promote it... You gotta believe Angelo wants to do everything in his power to do that, but not at the ultimate cost.
