Biggs: 'Alarm Bells Go Off' With Marshall
(WSCR) For the first time in decades, the Chicago Bears have a legitimate, No. 1 wide receiver on their roster.
In a move that shocked most of the NFL, Phil Emery and the Bears sent two third-round picks to Miami in exchange for the three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Brandon Marshall.
The problem, according to one Bears expert, is the long list of off-the-field issues that come with Marshall. Even now, he is under investigation for allegedly hitting a woman outside of a New York night club.
"When you talk about a 27-year-old receiver who is on his third team in four seasons but has been to three Pro Bowls, you start to celebrate, but the alarm bells go off," Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune and National Football Post told The Mully and Hanley Show. "Teams in the National Football League just don't give up or give away that kind of talent. That's the kind of player you're looking to sign to a long-term contract. That's the kind of player that gets franchise tagged. That's the kind of player you do anything to find a way to make him remain in the organization.

Still, if Marshall can stay clean while in Chicago, his effect on the Bears could be game-changing.
"There was risk involved with this trade I think because of the off-field issues with him," Biggs said. "It's a long, long list of off-field issues, but on the field, simply put, he's a beast. Ask Corey Graham, who tried to defend him a little bit in the Pro Bowl when Marshal won the MVP back in January. Corey couldn't do anything with him."
