Biggs: Aging Defense Could Be A Concern
(WSCR) There's no doubt the Bears made improvements this offseason.
Through the draft, trades and free agency, the Bears added key players like Brandon Marshall, Jason Campbell, Michael Bush and first-round draft pick Shea McClellan. Though, most of the focus this year has been on the offensive side of the ball.
With an aging defense, that offensive mindset is troubling to one Bears expert.
"How effective can an aging defense be? That's kind of the question that Phil Emery doesn't want to tackle," Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune told The Mully and Hanley Show. "He talks about, 'I don't look at age. I look at production' That's great - you can throw the film on from last season and see production, but the fact of the matter is that they're all getting another year older. When you watch them play this year, you don't know exactly what you're going to see yet."

Still, Biggs thinks the Bears have enough to compete in 2012.
"They are certainly going to be in position to compete, I would imagine," Biggs said. "Especially when you consider where they were before the quarterback got hurt last year. You're talking about being 7-3 and really in the hunt for things."
