Big Trailer Draws Complaints In Schaumburg
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 30-foot trailer, parked in a suburban cul-de-sac, is raising the ire of neighbors in Schaumburg.
It's sitting on a private driveway in Whitehall Court, and some residents are calling it an eyesore.
"The visual of pulling into our cul-de-sac with this big wall of white in the way is horrible," said a neighbor.
The trailer is next to his home.
"Imagine a dump truck parked 10 feet from your home," fellow neighbor Danielle Wagner said.
Regardless of the size, the Village of Schaumburg said there is no ordinance that prevents the trailer from being parked in a driveway.
"Box trucks are prohibited in Schaumburg, so it doesn't make sense to any of us that something like that would be allowed outside our kitchen windows," a neighbor said.
Now, there's a petition drive to get the law changed. Campers, trailers or RVs would require some sort of evergreen screening along with some size limit.
In addition, there are questions about why the owner of the trailer had surveillance cameras installed. Residents say that's intrusive, too.
The trailer owner declined to speak on camera but said he would give his side during a public hearing on the issue on Thursday.
