Big Ten To Discuss Move To 9-Game Season
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The Big Ten coaches and athletic directors will meet in Chicago this week, and a nine-game football schedule is a major item up for discussion.
There has been a push for increasing the number of games in the schedule since Nebraska joined the Big Ten as the 12th member last year, USA Today reported.
But if a nine-game schedule is approved, it won't be until later in the decade, because there are too many existing contracts, Purdue athletic director Morgan Burke said in USA Today.
Conference schedules are already in place through 2014, USA Today pointed out.
