Big Ten, Ivy League To Join Forces To Study Head Injuries
(CBS) The Big Ten and the Ivy League have announced plans to combine research efforts devoted to studying head injuries in sports.
The leagues say they'll collaborate on concussion studies initiated separately by the Big Ten in 2010 and the Ivy League last year. The leagues say they'll co-sponsor the efforts.
The new collaboration will, among other efforts, continue work on a concussion management plan started by the Big Ten and a "return to play" checklist developed by the Ivy League.
Ivy League Council of Presidents chair Shirley Tilghman, the president at Princeton, say the goal is to combine expertise and resources to significantly expand research on head injuries.
