Big Ten Football Report: Week 6
Adam Hoge gets you ready for this weekend's Big Ten action with his weekly Big Ten Football Report and predictions:
Podcast
Ohio State 31, Indiana 20: The Hoosiers have enough firepower on offense from quarterback Ben Chappell to put some points on the board and hang around for a while, but even if Terrell Pryor isn't 100 percent, he should find the end zone at least twice and throw for a couple touchdowns as well.
Penn State 17, Illinois 13: This is a scary game for the Nittany Lions. Their offense will continue to struggle against an improved Illini defense, but its not like Penn State has forgotten how to play defense. This will be a low-scoring affair that tilts in favor of the home team in the fourth quarter.
Wisconsin 31, Minnesota 17: I expect a spirited effort from the Badgers following their tough loss at Michigan State last weekend. But there is still something wrong with their passing offense and it doesn't make much sense. Luckily for Wisconsin, Minnesota won't be able to stop its potent running game and UW's defense corrects some mistakes to hold the Gophers to 17 points. Wisconsin takes Paul Bunyan's Axe for the seventh straight season.
Michigan State 35, Michigan 31: Expect some fireworks in Ann Arbor. I can't wait to see Heisman-frontrunner Denard Robinson face MSU middle linebacker Greg Jones. This is where the game will be won or lost and the bottom line is that Robinson has not faced a player like Jones yet this season. Michigan will still be able to score points, but their defense will get a wake-up call against a good Spartans' offense. Kirk Cousins will continue to impress with a couple of touchdown throws and Michigan State takes Paul Bunyan's Trophy for the third straight year.
Northwestern 28, Purdue 24: Expect Northwestern to get off to a hot start under the lights in Evanston as Dan Persa throws for a pair of first half touchdowns. The Wildcats' defense will force a few turnovers in this one against Purdue freshman quarterback Rob Henry, but the Boilermakers will creep back into the game in the second half and a late touchdown will make this a one possession game.
Bye: Iowa
