Harris: Cubs Beat Red Sox In 8th Inning Comeback

Fenway Park, Boston MA (WSCR) -- An eight run 8th inning, in which the Red Sox made three errors, propelled the Cubs to a comeback win tonight at Fenway Park 9-3.
Replacing Marlon Byrd in the 2nd inning due to injury, Reed Johnson came up with the bases loaded in the 8th down by one and doubled home two.
"I try to come in and do what I've been doing." Johnson said, "Work on the things that I've been working on in the cage and carry that out on the field every at bat. If I'm able to do that then I feel like I'm giving myself my best chance to succeed, especially in those big spots when we need RBI's. That always feels good."
After Johnson's double, the Cubs went on to add five more runs, thanks to a three errors by the Red Sox. Kerry Wood and Carlos Marmol pitched the 8th and 9th innings respectively giving up no runs, closing the game out.
Carlos Zambrano pitched 122 pitches through 5 and 2/3rds innings giving up 7 hits and 3 runs.
"We turned this game in our favor and we won this game" Zambrano said. "It was very important for us because it was a very big win against a tough Boston lineup...They have a pretty good idea what do do at the plate, as Boston is a good team. I was able to throw strikes."
Sean Marshall got the win after coming in and finishing the 6th inning and pitching the 7th giving up no runs.
Marlon Byrd was hit in the face with a pitch in the 2nd inning and was taken to a Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary for tests and observation. Byrd will stay overnight, and has been conscious the whole time.
Tomorrow the Cubs will start James Russell, and go with mess of bullpen pitchers throughout the rest of the game.
