'Big 3' Lincoln Documents Displayed At Museum For Birthday
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Lincoln history buffs are in for a birthday treat this weekend.
The three most significant documents related to Abraham Lincoln that Illinois possesses will be displayed in Springfield for the 16th president's birthday weekend.
The "Big Three" are the handwritten manuscript of the Gettysburg Address, the Lincoln-signed copy of the Emancipation Proclamation and the Congressional resolution — also signed by the president — for the 13th Amendment outlawing slavery.
They will be displayed in the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum's Treasures Gallery from Thursday through Monday at 5 p.m.
The 13th Amendment will remain on display through May 31.
The Library of Congress is the only other owner of originals of all three.
