Bicyclyst Opens Fire, Killing One Boy, Wounding Another
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A gunman who opened fire while pedaling past a Washington Park neighborhood home killed a teenage boy and wounded another Wednesday evening, authorities said.
Sixteen-year-old Geanni Boyd was sitting with the other boy on a porch in the 5100 block of South Calumet Avenue when the bicyclist fired on the two about 7:45 p.m., authorities said.
Boyd suffered the brunt of the barrage, with several bullets striking him in his lower extremities, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office and the police.
The boy, who lived in the 0-100 block of East 99th Place, was taken in serious condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he died just after midnight, according to the medical examiner's office.
The other boy, 15, escaped with a graze wound and was treated on the scene, police said.
Both teens are documented gang members, police said.
No one was in custody as of Thursday morning as Area Central detectives investigate.
