The Art Institute of Chicago offers two different areas where one can volunteer: behind the scenes and public contact. The behind the scenes volunteer opportunities take place in the administrative and curatorial offices. Volunteers in these offices need to be available to work weekdays and a majority of the volunteers working in the curatorial offices must also have translation skills and prior experience in the field. Those individuals interested in serving in the public contact volunteer opportunities would preferably have weekend availability. These volunteers are extremely important as they are the face of the museum to both the public and members.

There are numerous volunteer opportunities available at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. Volunteer opportunities offered include welcoming and interacting with visitors to the museum, ushering at education lectures or receiving membership cards at members' openings, plus many more opportunities. Volunteers receive an e-mail with the upcoming month's volunteer opportunities and can sign up for the dates that best suit their schedule. All volunteer opportunities are on a first-come basis.

There are numerous ways to help at the National Veterans Art Museum. The museum is appreciative of any help it receives and welcomes an application submission. The museum offers a volunteer application on its website and requests volunteers to fill out the application. The application also has volunteer-related questions. Once the application is completed and submitted, the National Veterans Art Museum will work with the individual volunteer to find the best role for him or her.

National Museum of Mexican Art is always looking for volunteers and understands the contributions volunteers make to the success of the museum. Applicants of diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply and many of the assignments require bilingual candidates (English/Spanish). Volunteers are placed in one of the departments based on their academic training and interests as well as the availability of projects. The departments include visual arts, permanent collections, education, Yollocalli Arts Reach, Radio Arte or administration.

The Driehaus Museum is looking for reliable, enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers who would be willing to commit to at least a year of volunteer service. Volunteer positions available include greeter and event ambassadors, but if a volunteer is interested in helping in some other capacity, the Driehaus Museum requests that you contact them. Weekday, weekend and evening opportunities are available.
