Carlos Tailoring Shop
1005 N. McKinley Road
Lake Forest, IL 60045
(847) 234-2215Master tailor Piero Amidei doesn't need a website or have to advertise. The folks who go to him know his reputation, can afford his high-end prices and recommend him to friends and business associates. In business for 48 years, Amidei also doesn't go for or need a fancy store. Someone driving through the upscale suburb of Lake Forest on McKinley Road would likely pass what appears to be a small store without a glance, except at Holiday time when he and his family go all-out for Christmas. Inside, he works miracles to fit all shapes and sizes. He also makes custom shirts.
Daniel George Custom Suits

A men's clothing designer since 1995, Daniel George has been suiting men in Chicago since 2012. Although his average custom suit price is $1,500 and he uses several top houses, he says not all fabric swatches a person will look through are at the very high end. In fact, some of George's favorite houses have reasonably-ranged prices. He notes that fabrics that look best on a person may depend on suit style and the person's shape. Custom clothing here is by appointment only. The first visit is to discuss what a person wants, take measurements and select the fabric. Turn-around time is between five and six weeks. His shop does both bespoke and made-to-measure suits.

Service is a large part of the reason Syd Jerome has been a popular Chicago men's clothing store for nearly 60 years. Longtime customers remember when it was on Monroe. However, the move to La Salle, the heart of the Loop, didn't matter because the store doesn't depend on street traffic. It has a loyal following of repeat customers who then recommend it to others. The store does mostly ready-to-wear but has enough tailors to take care of alterations. It also does made-to-measure and custom suits. An average suit price here is $1,800 - $1,900.
