Best Crepes In Chicago - Craving some crepes!

I'm a sucker for a fruit-filled crepe, so at least once a month I attempt to find the latest, greatest and yummiest crepe I can. While a crepe may be known as a French delicacy, many other restaurants in Chicago have mastered the recipes and added their own zing. I am very happy to share with you my favorite places to enjoy my very most favorite breakfast dish.

Crepe Crave

I always thought the Original Pancake House had the best crepes until I found this little gem, which I found on CBSChicago.com's Deal of the Day. I ordered the ever-amazing Funky Monkey, which includes bananas, Nutella and chocolate syrup, topped off with whipped cream. It is heaven in your mouth, ladies and gents. This crepe café has three different categories to choose from: breakfast crepes, savory crepes and sweet crepes. Check out their website to see all of your options.

The Original Pancake House

On to my second favorite: The Original Pancake House, which is home to the greatest strawberry crepes ever. I know it's a little cliché to speak so highly of the Pancake House, but they know how to do it right. They have the thickness of the crepe, the amount of strawberries, strawberry sauce recipe and amount of powdered sugar combined to a T. Cover it with strawberry syrup and you have a masterpiece. The crowded tables and long line will not scare me away!

La Creperie

The concept of this little venue was actually conceived in Germany where the owners met. She was from Joliet and he was from Chateauneuf de Faou, a small town in the western French province of Brittany. Long story short, they wed and out came La Creperie. And they've been "happily ever after" ever since. Ok, on a more serious note, the restaurant's homemade crepe matched with a good bottle of wine is my new favorite pastime.

Icosium Kafé LTD

This "kafé" has every crepe imaginable. My favorite is the Icosium Crepe, which includes roasted red peppers, fresh basil, goat cheese, caramelized onion, fresh roma tomatoes, pine nuts, roasted garlic and baby spinach. I mean really, who would ever think to put that in a thin pancake? This creative edge is why Icosium stands out from the crowd.

Bistrot Zinc

Simple yet refined, Bistrot Zinc makes the crepe we all know and love. Granola fruit and yogurt, banana and Nutella, chicken and mushroom, and ratatouille and chévre—I've tried them all. Be sure to enjoy a crepe during morning brunches in the springtime with the windows open and fresh air blowing while you sip on your morning coffee.

Bistro 110

Crepes filled with braised chicken, bacon and mushroom, baked in the restaurant's specialty sauce and topped with gruvere cheese? Yes please. While this is the only crepe on the breakfast menu at Bistro 110, it is soooo worth it. It is also a great hangover cure. Grab a Bloody Mary and you have yourself a fabulous feast. Chef Dominique has been featured on television stations for his love of garlic, so you know everything has to be good.
