Le Thrift
1821 W. Chicago Ave.
Chicago, IL 60622
(312) 912-9676
www.lethrift.com
Christine Sanderson's Le Thrift launched in 2009 as an online-only biz working out of her house while she was unemployed during the recession. Referrals from friends and family made the business grow to a storefront which opened in May 2011 and now there are both online stores and retail stores. Le Thrift carries high-end labels like Chanel, Gucci, Ferragamo, Louis Vuitton and Prada, but it also stocks nicer brand names like Free People, BCBG Max Azria and Anthropologie. "We also take exceptions to unique or well made pieces and love higher end vintage items (real silk, wool, hand woven fibers, leathers)," Sanderson says. "We are not like other consignment stores where it is a crowded disorganized space," she notes. "Our store is spacious, organized and clean. We want everyone to follow their own individual style and feel comfortable like it is a second home or your girlfriend's closet you are going through to find treasures."
Divine Consign
809 S. Oak Park Ave.
Oak Park, IL 60304
(708) 386-3366
www.divineconsign.com
Kellie Scott opened Divine Consign a few years ago after an accomplished career as an attorney. She turns away dusty antique furniture and rather focuses on carefully selected pieces as well as brand new items. Inventory arrives daily with shockingly low price tags affixed for such quality product. She wants readers to know that consignment furniture doesn't necessarily mean used or old. Many of the items at Divine Consign are new or nearly new. For example, on the floor at press time was a Mig and Tig table for $1,999 that retails for $9,450.
