A famous and renowned fashion designer, Maria Pinto is one of seven children who grew up in an Italian family on Chicago's south side. Her brilliant talent surfaced early as she began sewing her own clothes at age 13. Ms. Pinto's passionate commitment to her work led her to study at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she graduated with a degree in fashion. Shortly thereafter, she traveled to New York and studied with Geoffrey Beene before opening her own business in 1991. Maria's exclusive fashions have been featured in major publications including Vogue and Elle, and can be seen at Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue and other specialty retailers. Her unique and trendy designs will be on exhibit at the Field Museum through June 16, 2013.

The fascinating permanent exhibition "Chicago: Crossroads of America" imaginatively recreates an interactive platform of the city within several galleries that feature scenery in vignettes, inviting visitors to experience historic moments in time. Chicago's past is delightfully reawakened to life via informative multimedia and audio presentations highlighting important events and artifacts that distinguish our city as one of a kind. In effect, participants are immersed in a visual and sensory exploration of sight and sound designed to provide a conceptual understanding of Chicago's architectural landscape and cultural heritage.

One of the most important and celebrated Spanish artists of the 20th Century, Pablo Picasso was a prolific painter and sculptor whose abstract works are widely observed and studied in all mediums. A pioneer in the formation of the cubist art form, many of Picasso's creative accomplishments have attained historic significance as he continues to exert a profound influence on the modern artistic movement. Among his compelling architectural achievements is a landmark cubist sculpture named the "Chicago Picasso," dedicated to the Daley Plaza in 1967. A selection of more than 250 of his remarkable works will be exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago from February 20 through May 12, 2013.

The historic Wierix collection of rare and beautifully engraved angelic prints originated in the 16th century by a famous Flemish family of printmakers whose exquisite workmanship 'mirrored the saints' to perfection. Anton and Hieronymus Wierix along with their brother-in-law Jean-Baptiste Barbé produced more than 2,300 spiritually transformative prints exalting the saints, the Blessed Virgin and the Christ. Interestingly, the three artists were initially viewed as rebellious but later settled into peaceful family lifestyles through an unwavering commitment to their craft. The Jesuit Wierix Collection from DeKrijtberg in Amsterdam was discovered in the year 2000 and will be on display at the Loyola University Museum of Art through January 13, 2013.

A highly creative comic strip writer and Hollywood icon, Charles M. Schulz grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota and is best remembered for his tremendous success in developing the cartoon "Peanuts." A self-made billionaire whose lucrative career spanned 50 years, Schulz's ongoing storyline about the adventures of Charlie Brown and his dog Snoopy peaked the interest of readers everywhere, appearing in 2,600 newspapers, 75 countries and 21 different languages each day. A recipient of numerous prestigious awards including a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the "Peanuts" cast of characters was affectionately well received in the media, becoming an all-time favorite children's show especially during the holidays. The artist's original work will be on exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry through February 18, 2013.
