"The coaches have called great plays to put me in position to make them," Earl Bennett said on the Laurence Holmes Show while discussing his improved performance. This is what allowed Bennett to score two touchdowns during the Eagles game two weeks ago, the first time he had two touchdowns in a single game during his three year NFL career.  Last week against the Lions was his first 100-yard performance in a victory. He caught five passes for 81 yards as the Bears drove for three touchdowns. Four of those five passes converted third downs into first downs.

Earl Bennett missed most of training camp due to a hamstring injury but he still knew his capabilities when he took to the field. "It came on late in training camp but I had a hamstring injury. And I just knew I was going to have one more opportunity to show the coaches what I can do, probably more than one," Bennett said. "When I had the opportunity I just wanted to run with it and that's what I'm trying to do now"

When asked what the key is to being such a great receiver, he said it came down to two factors. "I think it's fundamental, first thing. Another thing is just find an open area, just make yourself available." Bennett continued to explain that making yourself available is to just be where you're supposed to be when you're supposed to be there. The key is to build confidence in the quarterback, make sure he can rely on your ability to complete the play.
