Bennett Wants To 'Take Advantage Of' Martz's Confidence

CHICAGO (WSCR) In a recent interview with the team's official website, Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Mike Martz talked about the upcoming season and getting receiver Earl Bennett more involved with the offense.

"We didn't throw it to him enough," Martz said. "That will be remedied. He will figure in a much larger role than he did last year."

In the 2010 season, including the playoffs, Bennett caught 50 passes for 619 yards and four touchdowns, and he's excited to have his coordinator's confidence entering fourth season in the NFL.

"I mean, my biggest thing is just to back it up," Bennett said on the Mully and Hanley Show. "You know, once I get an opportunity I have to take advantage of it."

"He's extremely reliable," Martz told ChicagoBears.com. "I know Jay [Cutler] feels comfortable with him in the slot doing some of those things, but he should be able to play outside for us as well."

According to a study by Pro Football Focus, Bennett and Cincinnati Bengals' wide receiver Jordan Shipley were the only receivers in 2010 to catch at least 50 passes without a single drop.

"I pretty much catch everything that comes to me, and I continue to help move the ball down the field," Bennett said. "I mean, I'm just excited for the opportunity and look forward to it."
