Below Average Temperatures For The Day, Freeze Watch Overnight
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Those 80-degree days back in March seem like a distant memory now, as some people were spotted walking around in winter coats Tuesday and a freeze watch is in effect for the overnight hours.
CBS 2 Meteorologist Megan Glaros says it was 42 degrees at O'Hare International Airport as of 11:20 a.m., but only 39 degrees at Midway.
The skies were sunny earlier in the morning, but had grown overcast with gloomy, wintry clouds by the early afternoon. A strong breeze is blowing in from the northwest, ensuring below-average temperatures all the livelong day.
A freeze watch is in effect for Cook, Lake, Will DuPage, Kendall and Kankakee counties and Northwest Indiana. A more serious freeze warning is in effect for McHenry, Kane, DeKalb and LaSalle counties.
The forecast low is 33 degrees for the overnight hours, and on Wednesday, temperatures climb to 48 degrees. The temperatures climb every day through Sunday – hitting 55 on Thursday, 60 on Friday, 68 on Saturday and 72 on Sunday.
But for now, the chilly conditions will remain. But consider this – much of Michigan was hit with a rain-snow mix Tuesday. Chicago just has wintry clouds.
