Beeping Package Found Near Mag Mile
CHICAGO (CBS) - A beeping package found by a janitor Monday morning near the Magnificent Mile has been deemed safe.
A janitor for a condominium complex found the beeping package near a garbage can in the 100 block of East Grand Avenue about 7:34 a.m., police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez said.
Nearby sidewalks were shut down as police Bomb and Arson Unit officers responded. The package was deemed safe by about 9 a.m, police said. It was not immediately clear what was inside.
The busy area where the package was found is home to the Marriott Downtown hotel, the Homewood Inn Suites, the Conrad Hotel, Joe's Seafood and Buca di Beppo restaurants, and the Shops at North Bridge mall.
No vehicular traffic was affected, police said.
