Bears' Zach Miller On Report That Jay Cutler Was Woefully Unprepared: 'BS'
(CBS) Bears tight end Zach Miller called a report that quarterback Jay Cutler was woefully unprepared heading into Sunday's loss to the Buccaneers "BS."
Citing Bears players, Bleacher Report's Mike Freeman reported Monday afternoon that most of the locker room has given up on Cutler and added that Cutler's lack preparation was "truly embarrassing." For his part, Miller didn't view the situation in the same light.
"I saw the article on Bleacher Report, and you look at that thing and you're just like, 'How does that come out? Where on your team is that feeling coming from?'" Miller said on the Boers and Bernstein Show. "Because you don't see it. I don't see it. I don't hear it. Being around the guys, I don't know who looks at Jay and how do they know how he's preparing other than on the practice field? He does everything he's asked to do, as far as on the practice field. And I know for a fact he does a lot more off the practice field, as far as he's calling his own meetings for us to get together and go over film and scripts and plays. We have things drawn out and written out, for us to go over the game plan. So I know for a fact that Jay's doing more than enough on his end for preparation. We just didn't translate it into execution on Sunday.
"So where that article comes from, I don't know. I wouldn't read into. I think it's kind of BS in my opinion."
Cutler had an abysmal game Sunday in his team's 36-10 loss at Tampa Bay, throwing two interceptions, including a pick-six, and fumbling twice.
"We didn't play well collectively," Miller said. "I know Jay wants to be better. We all want to be better. It was a pretty terrible day in general."
