Bears Trim Roster With Wave Of Moves

(CBS) With the preseason nearing its end, the Bears are closer to finalizing their roster. On Sunday, general manager Ryan Pace conducted a major wave of moves.
The Bears cut former Pro Bowl cornerback Tim Jennings, along with running back Daniel Thomas. The decision to cut Jennings came as a mild surprise, but he had been the Bears' sixth-string cornerback as of last week. It's likely that Chicago will move forward with Kyle Fuller, Alan Ball and Sherrick McManis as its starting corners.
"Positive vibes only," Jennings tweeted. "It's been great, Chicago."
Additionally, the Bears announced they have placed safety Ryan Mundy on season-ending injured reserve and rookie receiver Kevin White on the physically-unable-to-perform list list. Mundy had 103 tackles in 16 games in 2014, his first season with Chicago. White will have to miss at least the first six games and could miss the entire season.
As Tuesday's cut deadline nears, the Bears also parted ways with tight end Kevin Greene, tackle Cameron Jefferson, receiver Jeremy Kelley, cornerback Al Louis-Jean, long snapper Rick Lovato, receiver Levi Norwood, defensive end Olsen Pierre and tight end Chris Pantale.
Final cuts to a 53-man roster must be finished by Saturday. Chicago finishes its preseason on Thursday against the Browns at Soldier Field, then opens the regular season by hosting Green Bay on Sept. 13.
