Bears Take Cal Safety With Third Round Pick
CHICAGO (CBS) The Chicago Bears selected Chris Conte, a safety from California, with their third round draft pick.
A former cornerback, Conte ran a 4.52 40-yard dash at the NFL's Scouting Combine and recorded 18 reps on the bench press at 225 pounds. He's listed as 6-foot-3 and 212-pounds.
In four seasons at Cal, the Los Angeles native had 152 tackles, two forced fumbles and two interceptions.
The Bears selected Conte with the 29th pick in the third round, it was the 93rd overall pick.
