Bears Sign Toub To 2-Year Extension
(CBS) The Bears have signed special teams coordinator Dave Toub to a two-year extension.
Toub interviewed for the head coaching job with the Miami Dolphins, but will stay with the Bears instead. His contract with the Bears expired at the end of the season.
Toub is widely regarded as one of the best special teams coaches in the NFL. He has been with the Bears since Lovie Smith took over in 2004 and has helped develop Devin Hester into the NFL's all-time leader in kick return touchdowns. This past season, special teams gunner Corey Graham became the eighth Pro Bowl selection by a Bears special teams player under Toub.
Kicker Robbie Gould has developed into the fifth most accurate field goal kicker in NFL history (85.8 percent) and in 2011, the Bears punting unit set a franchise record with a 40.4 new punting average.
