Bears Sign Long Snapper Laptad
(CBS) The Bears signed defensive end Jake Laptad Tuesday to handle long snapping duties after Patrick Mannelly suffered a torn ACL in Sunday's win over the Chargers.
Laptad spent time with the Bears during training camp and was the long snapper in the team's final preseason game against the Browns. He is an undrafted free agent out of Kansas.
The Bears also signed tackle Josh Davis and cornerback Joshua Moore to the practice squad. Davis was also with the Bears during the preseason as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia.
The Bears still have one roster spot available after waiving defensive end Mario Addison Monday. They are expected to sign a veteran backup quarterback with Jay Cutler shelved with thumb injury.
