Bears Release Safety Venable, Promote Walters
(CBS) Bears fans calling for some blood at Halas Hall after the Bears 24-13 embarrassment Monday night got their wish.
The Bears released undrafted free agent safety Winston Venable and promoted undrafted free agent Anthony Walters from the practice squad. The Bears' poor secondary performance cannot be pinned on Venable, though, as he only played special teams. Walters, who played at Delaware, was one of the final cuts by the team before the start of the season.
The Bears also announced that defensive end Jake Laptad and wide receiver Max Komar have been added to the practice squad.
