Bears Promote Chris Williams, Cut Rashad Ross
(CBS) The Bears have promoted receiver/returner Chris Williams from the practice squad and waived receiver/returner Rashad Ross, they announced Tuesday afternoon.
Ross had been on the 53-man roster for the past two games after Williams had previously failed to win the returner's job. Ross had five kick returns for 106 yards this season, but the Bears have chosen to go in a different direction with Williams, who they signed off the Saints' practice squad last December and who has bounced around from the active roster to the practice squad to the open market time and again.
Williams made his NFL debut for the Bears in Week 2 against the 49ers.
Chicago plays at Carolina on Sunday.
