Bears' Olsen Helping To Kick Cancer
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Bears tight end Greg Olsen is helping to kick cancer. Olsen hosted a charity kickball tournament in Grant Park on Saturday, in honor of his mother, Susan, who is a 10-year breast cancer survivor.
As CBS 2's Megan Mawicke reports, 65 teams competed in the tournament and some even took on Olsen and Bears teammates Brian Urlacher and Matt Forte.
The tournament, "Kicks for a Cure" is billed as the world's largest charity kickball tournament.
"The amount of support that we've had, all these people turning out for the event has been amazing," Olsen said. "So we're fortunate for the support we've gotten from the community."
His mother said "to have this event and raise this kind of money – with breast cancer, me being a survivor – is just unbelievable."
Olsen's foundation, Receptions for Research, has raised $750,000 for cancer research.
