Bears' Matt Forte Back On Practice Field
By Chris Emma--
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (CBS) -- Back at practice Wednesday for a shortened week of preparation as the Rams await Sunday, the Bears had running back Matt Forte back on the field, doing light work on a side field as he recovers form a knee injury.
Bears coach John Fox listed Forte as limited, which would be considered a step forward after he didn't participate at all last week.
"He's been through it before," Fox said of Forte. "Like a lot of players who have had similar injuries, they understand it and know how to rehab it better the second time around. He's still day-to-day. We'll kind of evaluate him. He's not full-go yet, but he's making progress."
Forte missed Chicago's win at San Diego on Monday, in which rookie replacement Jeremy Langford racked up 142 all-purpose yards, including 72 rushing yards and a touchdown. Fox was pleased with Langford's performance.
"I thought he did very good," Fox said. "I thought he performed well in all of his duties, both as a pass receiver as well as a runner.
Additionally, Fox listed receiver Eddie Royal (knee), linebacker Pernell McPhee (knee), safety Antrel Rolle (ankle), kicker Robbie Gould (illness) as players who didn't participate in practice, while center Hroniss Grasu (neck), offensive tackle Jermon Bushrod (shoulder) and linebacker Shea McClellin (knee) were all limited.
The Bears (3-5) and Rams (4-4) kick off on Sunday at noon from the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis.
