Bears' Jay Cutler Misses Practice, Alshon Jeffery Dealing With Knee Ailment
By Chris Emma--
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (CBS) -- Bears coach John Fox came to the podium Wednesday with quite the long injury report.
"It's fairly extensive," Fox said.
In preparation for Sunday's contest with the Cowboys, eight Bears missed practice, a group led by quarterback Jay Cutler.
As expected, Cutler was on the sidelines with his sprained right thumb still supported in a protective cast. Fox confirmed that no surgery will be required, and the timetable for a return is day-to-day, according to the team. However, his recovery could take two to three weeks, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported.
Additionally, running back Ka'Deem Carey (hamstring), defensive lineman Eddie Goldman (ankle), linebacker Danny Trevathan, Trevathan (thumb), safety Adrian Amos (concussion), cornerback Bryce Callahan (concussion) and safety Chris Prosinski (calf) didn't participate in practice. Fox also confirmed that linebacker Lamarr Houston suffered a torn ACL.
Bears receiver Alshon Jeffery appeared on the injury report for the first time in the regular season, listed as limited Wednesday with a knee ailment. Jeffery wasn't made available to the media by the Bears' PR staff.
Offensive tackle Bobby Massie (toe), guard Josh Sitton (shoulder), cornerback Kyle Fuller (knee), cornerback Sherrick McManic (wrist) and cornerback Tracy Porter (knee) were all limited in practice.
Speaking to the team's injuries, Fox refused to make excuses.
"It's next man up," Fox said. "You don't have any choice, nobody comes to rescue you, they're not going to cancel the game. I don't get much into it."
