Bears Have Second Chance to Shut Down Williams
In the first meeting between the Bears and Seahawks, Mike Williams caught 10 passes for 123 yards. A performance that helped the Seahawks beat the Bears. On Sunday, the Bears will have a second chance to shut him down.
But having the opportunity is one thing, the question the defense will be faced with is what will they do differently?
"I think when you look at what he was able to do last time, that's a fair question," Lovie Smith said. "We have to play a lot better against him...It's like that each week. If you don't have success you look for a better way of doing things."
This is exactly what the Bears have done all season, and throughout Lovie's tenure as head coach. They constantly adapt and make adjustments to their schemes. But sometimes it comes down to execution of those schemes.
"Maybe a better way is just to play what we had planned a little better, show up Sunday and we'll see," Lovie said.
Now Lovie wasn't throwing any of his players under the bus for Williams' performance in week six, only saying that the team is confident in their approach and schemes, another staple of Lovie's coaching.
