Bears G Matt Slauson To Miss Rest Of Season With Pectoral Injury
(CBS) The blows are piling up for the Bears.
After falling to 3-5 with an embarrassing 51-23 loss at New England on Sunday, Chicago announced Monday that it has lost two starters for the remainder of the season.
Lamarr Houston tore his ACL in his right knee while celebrating a sack, which you can read about here. Left guard Matt Slauson is also done for the rest of 2014 after suffering a torn right pectoral muscle in Sunday's loss. Surgery won't be needed for Slauson, and he should be ready for offseason activities, Emery said.
The loss of Slauson is quite a blow for Chicago, as he's been arguably the team's most consistent offensive lineman the past couple seasons, when healthy. Michael Ola is listed as Chicago's top backup at guard, but he's been playing tackle at times too as the Bears have dealt with a host of injuries on that front. It's also possible that starting right tackle Jordan Mills could move to left guard, Emery said.
The rationale behind that would be that Mills has struggled when isolated on the outside against opposing defensive ends, and perhaps Ola is better suited for that spot.
