Bears DT Sedrick Ellis To Retire From NFL
(CBS) Before practice officially started, the Bears have lost a player.
Defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis did not report to training camp Wednesday and advised the team he will retire from the NFL.
Ellis, 28, was signed by the Bears to a one-year contract in June.
The 6-1, 307-pound Ellis started all 70 games played over five seasons in New Orleans after being selected by the Saints in the first round (seventh overall) in the 2008 NFL Draft out of USC.
