Bears Deny Report That Kevin White Won't Play This Season

(CBS) A day after the Chicago Tribune reported that rookie receiver Kevin White will be out for the season, Bears coach John Fox offered a denial.

"There's always a lot of reports," Fox said Friday. "But then there's facts."

The Bears have no intention of playing White in the final four games, the Tribune reported Thursday, as he works back from a stress fracture in his left leg prior to training camp. White has spent the season on the physically-unable-to-perform list.

White is currently working in Bears practice within a three-week window to practice. The Bears must decide by Tuesday whether to shut him down for the season or elevate him to the active roster.

"I think I've expressed that we have until Tuesday," Fox said.

White has been active in practice, showing his abilities to run routes and catch passes. Even prior to last Sunday's game against the 49ers, White was seen catching passes on Soldier Field.

However, White was realistic in the expectations for him this season.

"I got confidence, but I got to be smart," White said this week. "Whatever they want me to do, that's what I'll do."

The Bears (5-7) host Washington (5-7) on Sunday at Soldier Field, looking to rebound from a loss to the 49ers.
