Bayless' Restaurant Takes Off At O'Hare
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Celebrity chef Rick Bayless is celebrating the takeoff of his new restaurant at O'Hare International Airport.
Tortas Frontera is now open in Terminal 1 at the airport. A second location is on the way for Terminal 3.
Tortas are Mexican sandwiches. They will be made using bread from Alsip-based Labrolia Baking Co., the same bread Bayless uses at his Xoco Restaurant, 449 N. Clark St. Chefs at Tortas Frontera will use the same techniques as Bayless' flagship restaurants, Frontera Grill and Topolobampo at 445 N. Clark St., Crain's Chicago Business reported.
Tortas Frontera will also feature breakfast mollettes, or open-faced sandwiches; soups and salads; a yogurt bar; a guacamole bar; hand-shaken margaritas; and beer, Crain's reported.
Foodies are thrilled with the menu. Now that cuisine in the style of Frontera Grill is available at the airport, one blogger says, "It almost makes me want to brave O'Hare."
Bayless' star has been shining brightly for several years. Last year, he prepared the meal last for the White House state dinner honoring Mexican President Felipe Calderon.
Bayless is also the author of several cookbooks, appears in his own PBS series and has competed on, and won, Bravo's "Top Chef Masters."
