At 1:08 p.m., police found an unresponsive man "bleeding profusely" in a stairwell at Batavia Apartments in the 1100 block of East Wilson Street, according to a statement from the Batavia Police Department.
Paramedics took the man to Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva, where he was later pronounced dead, police said, The Kane County Corner's office did not immediately return calls for comment.
Police said they discovered two women fighting at the bottom of the stairwell, where they discovered three knives.
One of the women — 24-year-old Latoya M. Baines, of the 1200 block of East Wilson Street — was later arrested and charged with two counts of first degree murder, the police statement said. Baines allegedly stabbed the man during a domestic dispute.
