Barney: Upcoming Road Trip 'Not Going To Be Easy'
CHICAGO (CBS) The Chicago Cubs ended their recent nine-game homestand with a 3-6 record that included getting swept by the Houston Astros. Now the Cubs will take to the road for 10 games while they travel to St. Louis, Cincinnati and Philadelphia.
Those teams have a combined winning percentage of 56.4 (96-74).
"It's not going to be easy," second baseman Darwin Barney said. "But, you know, I think, you know, those of us who are excited about it, you know, it's a great opportunity for us to see who we are and what we got inside and what we're going to be."
The Cubs entered the season without very high expectations, and while they stayed around .500 early in the season, recently they've seen themselves slip.
But there's really no quick fix for the team, they just have to accept the challenge at hand and start to execute.
"You basically make peace with what's going on, make the adjustment," Carlos Pena said. "And then motivate, you know, we try to motivate ourselves to go out there every single day and try to get that 'W.'"
