Barn Fire Shuts Down Route 47 In Kane County
LILY LAKE, Ill. (CBS) -- A raging barn fire shut down busy Route 47 in Kane County Monday morning.
As CBS 2's Kris Habermehl reports, the fire broke out at a barn at 6-N-511 N. Route 47, in unincorporated Kane County north of Lily Lake.
The responding Elburn Fire Department raised a third alarm. With no hydrants nearby, firefighters had to truck in water from as far away as Bartlett.
Information was not immediately learned about any injuries to people or animals.
Route 47 was blocked between Empire and Silver Glen roads following the fire. With Route 64 also closed east of Route 47 for roadwork, Habermehl says navigating the area will be difficult.
The barn was a total loss.
