Bargain Hunters Get Early Jump On Black Friday Shopping
SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (CBS) -- They didn't sleep. They don't care about the cold. They're on a mission to shop.
CBS 2's Susanna Song reports diehard bargain hunters were off to an early start this Black Friday.
At Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, stores have been open since 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving, and will stay open until 10 p.m. Friday.
It was the first time the mall opened on Thanksgiving. Stores were offering discounts of up to 65 percent for Black Friday.
Sarah and Matt White, from Arlington Heights, had so much to buy, they brought a shopping cart to the mall to haul all their stuff.
"It was too hard to hold everything," Sarah said.
They started shopping at 10 p.m. Thursday, after Thanksgiving dinner. As they started shopping for Christmas gifts, they filled their cart with toys for their son and daughter.
"I found a lot of good deals at Toys R Us. I found a lot of good deals. I'm going to Macy's now to see what they have," Sarah said.
Samantha, from Aurora, was taking a break from shopping after seven hours of bargain hunting, and dropping off some bags in her car, before going back to it.
