Barack Obama Gets Own Twitter Account, Follows All Major Chicago Sports Teams Except The Cubs
(CBS) President Barack Obama on Monday finally launched his own Twitter account -- @POTUS -- and as it pertains to Chicago sports, this is kind of a big deal.
Why? Because Obama -- who still owns a home in Chicago and cut his political teeth in Illinois -- is following the official accounts White Sox, Bears, Bulls and Blackhawks. Who isn't he following? The Cubs.
And the Cubs have noticed.
This slight comes as the Cubs have had a quality start to the season. Their recent six-game winning streak has helped them improve to 21-16, good for second place in the NL Central.
The reason for Obama not following the Cubs could be because he's a White Sox fan. Or for the conspiracy theorists, it could be because the patriarch of the Ricketts family that owns the Cubs is Joe Ricketts, who is a fierce opponent of Obama's.
Make what you will of it. But just know that Obama and the Cubs can't converse using direct messages on why this is.
