Bouncer Allegedly Shoots Patron Over Bar Tab

CHICAGO (CBS) - Police say an unpaid bar tab led a bouncer to shoot a customer at a bar in the Rogers Park neighborhood over the weekend.

Danielito Valentin, 31, is charged with felony aggravated battery. He also faces charges of impersonating a police officer after he admitted carrying a Chicago Police badge so he could pose as an off-duty cop, it's alleged.

Police say Valentin was working the door at Gallagher's bar at 1770 W. Greenleaf Ave. Friday night, when he got in a dispute with a group of men who had been kicked out of the bar for failing to settle a tab three weeks earlier, Assistant Cook County State's Attorney Dan Pinowarczyk said.

He shot one of the men in the leg, before ditching his gun, which was recovered, authorities said.

Police found the badge in Valentin's possession when he was arrested a few blocks away in the 1900 block of West Touhy Avenue, Pinowarczyk said. Valentin alleged the victim pulled a gun first.
