Bank Branches In Loop, Norridge Robbed Friday
CHICAGO (STMW) - Bank branches in the Loop and the near northwest suburb of Norridge were robbed Friday, bring the total number of bank robberies in the Chicago area in 2012 to at least 48.
Through all of 2011 there were a total of 115 bank robberies in the metropolitan area, according to the FBI.
The MB Financial Bank branch at 2 S. LaSalle St. was robbed by a man wearing a New York Yankees baseball cap, according to the FBI. He was a black man, 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-9, wearing a black jacket with red lettering, and blue jeans. He did not use a gun in this robbery.
In Norridge, the First Merit Bank branch at 8301 W. Lawrence Ave. was robbed by a man wearing a backwards baseball cap. This man -- described as white, between 25 to 30 years old, 5-foot-7 to 6-feet-tall, and about 130 to 150 pounds, was wearing sunglasses, a dark blue T-shirt, jeans and an unzippered hooded sweatshirt. No weapon was used in this robbery, either.
