Baconfest Tickets On Sale
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Tickets went on sale Wednesday for the fifth annual Baconfest Chicago, a socially acceptable setting to pig out on pig.
Co-founder Seth Zurer told WBBM Newsradio's John Cody the inspiration came from friends; clearly not his mom.
"My mother's a nice Jewish lady in Washington, D.C., so I don't think she can be responsible 100 percent for my love of bacon," he said.
Baconfest Tickets Going On Sale
Zurer pictures bacon as inspiration for the ages.
"Bacon is a fount of creativity," he said.
He pointed out Baconfest is one of the few places to get bacon-stuffed bacon.
"Cook a side of bacon, and cut it into a strip, and use it as a sausage casing, into which you stuff ground up bacon," he said.
Zurer acknowledged having 64 chefs all cooking bacon in the same room will leave an indelible imprint on the people attending Baconfest – not to mention their clothing.
"Dry cleaning is at your own expense. We can't be held responsible for that," he said.
The $100-per-ticket Baconfest is set for April 20 at the UIC Forum. Tickets go on sale at noon online. The Greater Chicago Food Depository will receive $50,000 in proceeds from the ticket sales.
