Baby Goats Abandoned Across Street From Suburban Farm
LOCKPORT, Ill. (CBS) -- The manager of a farm in southwest suburban Lockport said it's a good thing someone heard the cries of baby goats that were abandoned across the street. Otherwise, "they would have been coyote bait."
The goats were left at the construction site where a new library is going up, in Crest Hill, according to Kaity Siegel, manager of Siegel's Cottonwood Farm, located across the street in Lockport.
"The two people that called the police were flying this airplane behind the library, and they said a van pulled up, and all of a sudden, 10 minutes later, they heard this crying when the van pulled away and there were these two baby goats," Siegel said.
Baby Goats Abandoned Near Farm
One's a week old, and the other is about a month old.
"We're extremely confused on why they would abandon them there, when there's a farm right across the street. Why wouldn't they just bring them to us? There's plenty of people that call us and just stop by and drop of animals all the time," she said. "They're extremely friendly. The gray one gets very cuddly with you when you hold her."
Siegel said the younger goat clearly was taken away from its mother too soon.
She says there's a good chance she'll survive, but they're having a hard time feeding her.
