Babe Ruth Called His Home Run At Wrigley Field 80 Years Ago Today
(WSCR) In Game 3 of the 1932 World Series, Yankees slugger Babe Ruth made one of the most famous calls in the history of baseball.
While there has never been any confirmation, legend has it that as the game was tied 4-4 in the fourth inning, Ruth stepped up to the plate, pointed toward the center field bleachers and drove the next pitch he saw over the center field wall.
The blast gave the Yankees all they would need to top the Cubs, 7-5, at Wrigley Field. The Yankees went on to win the World Series, continuing the Cubs' World Series drought.
