Autopsy: Mokena Area Murder Victim Was Beaten
MOKENA, Ill. (CBS) -- A man found slain in unincorporated Mokena earlier this week was beaten to death, an autopsy showed.
The autopsy on Dwight Jones, 59, revealed that he died of blunt force trauma, according to the Will County coroner's office.
The final cause and manner of his death have yet to be determined, pending police and toxicological reports, according to the coroner's office.
<a href="http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2011/06/15/man-59-found-slain-in-unincorporated-monkena/"Jones' body was found around 11 p.m. Tuesday, when Will County sheriff's police were called to a home in the 13300 block of 184th place in unincorporated Mokena, New Lenox Township, just north of Interstate 80.
Police had been called for a burglary, and family members at the home said they had not heard from its resident, Dwight Jones, since Friday. They had come to check on him, and found that the back sliding glass door was unlocked and the home had been ransacked.
Jones' partially decomposed body was found in the master bedroom, police said. He was identified through fingerprint comparison.
Police also discovered that Jones' 2008 gray, four-door Volkswagen Jetta, Illinois license plate A234576, was missing from his garage.
