Authorities Charge Des Plaines Teen With North Side Slaying
CHICAGO (STMW) - Murder charges have been filed against a Des Plaines teen who allegedly shot and killed a 15-year-old boy and injured another 15-year-old boy July 22 on the Far North Side, police said.
James Galambos, 19, of the 900 block of Beau Drive in Des Plaines, was charged with the murder of Sergio Torrez and aggravated battery Friday night, police said.
Galambos was scheduled to appear in bond court Saturday but information on the hearing was not immediately available.
About 4:30 p.m. that day, the teens were walking with a group when they encountered another group of people in the 3100 block of West Peterson Avenue, according to a News Affairs release.

They exchanged words before someone produced a gun and shot the two boys.
Torrez was hit in the back, and the other boy was grazed in the arm. Both were transported to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston.
Torrez, of the 6700 block of North Maplewood Ave., was pronounced dead at 5 p.m. July 22 at Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, according to Cook County Medical Examiner's office. An autopsy July 23 determined Torrez died of a gunshot wound to the back and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner's office.
