Austin Attack Leaves Man Shot In Chest
CHICAGO (STMW) - A man who was rehabbing a building was shot in the chest Thursday afternoon on the West Side.
The shooting happened about 5:50 p.m. at the 1400 block of N. Menard Ave., according to Grand Central District police captain.
The victim, who speaks only Polish, was rehabbing a building when he left momentarily to retrieve some tools and was confronted by the assailant or assailants who shot him in the chest, the captain said.
The man, in his 50s, was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood to be treated for a gunshot wound that went "through and through'' him, according to the captain.
It was not immediately known if anything was taken from the worker.
Some witnesses reported seeing a group of suspects but no one was in custody at 7 p.m.
Grand Central Area detectives are investigating.
