Aurora Police Seek Hit-And-Run Driver That Injured 97-Year-Old Passenger
(CBS) -- Aurora police are hoping someone saw something or has information about a Thanksgiving night hit-and-run crash that critically injured a 97-year-old woman in the western suburb.
About 7:55 p.m. Thursday, a 48-year-old Wheaton man was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Colbalt south on Ashbury Drive after turning from Saratoga Drive, Aurora police said.
A vehicle, possibly a white pickup truck, veered into the driver's lane and struck the Cobalt head-on, police said. The Cobalt went backwards and struck a 2009 Honda Accord that was parked on Saratoga and unoccupied. The driver of the pickup truck was last seen headed north on Ashbury.
The 97-year-old was in the passenger seat of the Cobalt and suffered numerous broken bones, police said. She was taken to another suburban hospital after being initially treated at Rush Copley Medical Center.
The driver of the Cobalt and another passenger — a 73-year-old Chicago woman who was in a back passenger seat — were both taken to Rush Copley for treatment and released.
Besides the vague description of the white pickup truck, police have little information about the vehicle or its occupants.
