Attempted Abduction In Harvey, Woman Walking Her Dog
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A woman was walking last week with her dog, when she almost fell victim to an abduction.
A woman was walking her dog at approximately 5:10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 23, near East 157th Street and Ashland Avenue, when her noticed her dog beginning to act suspicious, according to Harvey police.
The woman then heard noises coming from the bushes near her neighbor's house. She did not think anything of it until she saw, out of her peripheral vision, a man near the side of her house. At that point, she rushed to get inside her house, CBS 2's Vince Gerasole reports.
She saw the suspect run from one side of her house, to her car and then onto her porch. She slammed the door and saw the man try to pull the door open while holding a gun, police said.
Surveillance video from the exterior of the residence shows what appears to be a white van suspiciously pulling backwards and forwards in front of the residence. It also showed a man running to the victims porch with a gun in his hand, trying to gain entry into the residence. After a failed attempt, the man got back into the can and drove off, according to Harvey Detectives.
An incident that happened in Chicago on Wednesday may be connected to this one, according to Sean Howard, Harvey spokesperson.
An aggravated kidnapping occurred Wednesday, Sept 28. around 7 p.m. in the 8100 block of South Western in Chicago.
A 37-year-old female was taken, but has been located since, according to Chicago Police. The incident is under investigation.
